Lapsang Souchong January Tea of the Month
Updated: Feb 27, 2021
This unique tea encompasses an exotic, smoky flavor; it has often been referred to as a smoked tea. Lapsang Souchong has grown in popularity with those who appreciate single malt Scotch whiskey and fine cigars. The preparation of the leaves involves withering over cypress or pinewood fires. Once steeped, this gourmet tea produces a bright, burgundy-orange cup of tea with an assertive and bold flavor. Lapsang Souchong Tea comes from the Fujian province of China. After the rolling process, the teas are placed into wooden barrels until they begin to emit their own pleasant aroma. As a final step they are placed in bamboo baskets and hung over smoky pine fires where they dry and absorb the smoky essence. This meticulous process makes this tea flavor significantly distinctive from all other teas. To enhance your tea experience we also offer Mini Minute Filters (40ct) or mesh Tea Ball infuser.
